Check this out. In Finder, when you want to rename a file you generally click to select the file, then click again to highlight the filename ready for renaming. Previously, this would highlight the entire filename, so if deleting or backspacing, you’d erase the whole file name including the extension.

In Leopard, when you do this, it highlights just the name of the file, not including the extension, making changing the filename, but not the extension really easy, check it out:
