Hi there, I’m using macbook, and the “Silent Volume Control: Shift + F4 or F5
Detailed Volume Control: Shift + Alt + F4 or F5″ trick keys are not working.
Thx

Richard: In System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, Keyboard button, make sure the "Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys" is checked. Then try Shift + Alt + fn + F4 or F5 then it should work. Erik on Macbook Pro.

Another tip about Command Shift + 4 + Space = Selected Section Screen Shot: Some people only want to make a screenshot temporarily. So, having to locate and use the file can be a pain. Use the following command to put the screenshot to your clipboard (by adding the Control key to the sequence). Then just Command V to paste the screenshot from the clipboard:

Command Shift ctrl + 4 + Space = Selected Section Screen Shot

In added to that Control+Eject will give all the options for Sleep, Restart and Shutdown. It's mac default one... In OS9 be careful you press control, since command will tend to hang the machine!

If the silent volume control doesn't work with F4 + F5 then try Shift + your standard volume controls.
Same works with detailed volume controls, Shift + Alt + your standard volume buttons.

@Gabi:
1. on the desktop- the “force quit” command shortcut
=Alt/Option+Command+Escape
2. on the apple toolbar - the “logout of _____” command shortcut
=Shift+Command+Q
3. on safari - the “block pop-up windows” command shortcut
=Shift+Command+K

The loop/cloverleaf/propeller symbol is the command key also referred to as the 'Apple' key (next to your spacebar)
The Alt/Option key will be marked as such on most American keyboards. The symbol looks like a straightened S with a horizontal line to the left.

Hope this helps

to gloria
There is a way i don't know if there is a shortcut but to put all of your chats in one box you go to Prefrences(in iChat) then Messages (on the top bar) then go to the 3rd from the bottom.
