Richard: In System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, Keyboard button, make sure the “Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys” is checked. Then try Shift + Alt + fn + F4 or F5 then it should work. Erik on Macbook Pro.

Another tip about Command Shift + 4 + Space = Selected Section Screen Shot: Some people only want to make a screenshot temporarily. So, having to locate and use the file can be a pain. Use the following command to put the screenshot to your clipboard (by adding the Control key to the sequence). Then just Command V to paste the screenshot from the clipboard:
