    cheers

The shift to mute volume feedback works in Tiger too. You can also just turn it off in System Preferences because it’s really irritating …

Zowee!! The things that sit right under your nose and you never find out!

About the dock magnifying, in my case, I have to press Shift AND the Control key to do it.

Doesn’t work on my Mac Pro with a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard 4000 (no special drivers). But it works perfectly on my MacBook Pro. Both are running Leopard.

Works on my PowerBook G4 1.5GHz, very neat trick, thanks.

I held down shift whilst I was changing volume in order to mute the feedback sound, but now my volume keys don’t seem to have any effect on the volume, and I can’t bring the feedback sound back, even though in Preferences the box is checked. Eeek! Help?!

  10. Meg Says:

I’m using Leopard on a new MacBook by the way. I don’t know if it’s of any use, but when I go to Sound Preferences, everything is checked (except for mute) and after “Play alerts and sound effects through:” I can’t select anything. Would be great if you could help!
