Like most tricks, I stumbled upon this by accident. If you just want to reply or forward a selected portion of an email in Mail, just drag to highlight the portion of the email and click reply or forward. Comes in handy for those long threads.

Well, you have to switch that on in the Mail.app preferences. It’s at the bottom of the composing tab, but from that setting this “tip” is quite obvious…

I’m one of those who keep looking at the preferences, trying to figure what I might be missing and hadn’t tried this one. It’s good! Thanks.
