There’s a whole folder full of menu bar options in HD:System:Library:CoreServices:Menu Extras
In addition to spaces, wifi, sound, battery, and time, you can also add bluetooth, displays, an extra eject button, faxing, and .mac syncing to the menu bar, and this tip is directed towards people with a menu bar full of icons that need to be specifically placed in a certain order.

i’ve noticed that you can only move around the MAC DEFAULT icons on the menu bar…if you have Adium, or Growl, or Alarm Clock, etc…then they will not move around.

Thus, all that can be rearranged is:
Spaces
WiFi
Sound
Battery
Time

When I command-click on some menu bar icons it activates the item’s drop-down menu and they cannot be moved.

I really like these tips, as a recent switcher and complete newbie to Mac OS. But, I think a lot of these tips would be even easier to understand immediately if there was a screenshot showing what you were talking about. I understand to many it’s pretty self-evident, but I wasn’t sure if you were talking about inside the Finder, or…

Also, it seems this only works with certain icons, the ones built into the system (like Bluetooth, Airport, etc.) not third-party icons.
