Hey that work very well.
@ Brenner: Select a word or a sentence in a text, then drag it on the Safari icon in the Dock.

Good idea, but an even simpler way would be to highlight your word or phrase in the text, hold in the control key and click on it. The box that opens, choose Search in Google. Works with a right click as well if you have a mighty mouse (or other) and the right click is set as a secondary button.

There is also a shortcut for this.
Highlight the word or phrase and push:
Command+Shift+L
It opens a new browser window with Google search

Dragging the highlighted word to the dock, doesn’t work on my Mac (and the Leopard software is up-to-date).
However, highlighting the work and then hitting command-shift-L works fine and seems much more efficient than dragging a highlighted word all the way to the dock.
