Hi there i have a macbook running 10.5 on it and using the f12 button will bring my widget's to focus. i have tried the above ways and none of them work for me. Can someone please tell me how i go about this. I used to be able to do it on my imac but it doesn't work there either.

On recent Macs (especially the iMac with the aluminum keyboard), the Dashboard shortcut is programmed at the factory as F4. They even put a little Dashboard icon on it (a speedometer). Still, in Leopard, I think you might need to make that Terminal command.

Another simple solution... (on Tiger, I don't have Leopard)
without any code, just use the interface ! ;^)

First you need to know your keyboard shortcut to activate Dashboard.

Then:
- open Dashboard (ie with your keyboard shortcut)
- clic and drag to select the new widget you want to open... but without releasing your mouse !
- close Dashboard with your keyboard shortcut
- release your mouse

That's All Folk!

You don't need a program to do this! You can do it within leopard automatically without messing with Terminal Command either. Just hit F12 to bring up the widgets, click and hold the widget you to move to the desktop, while holding the click, move the widget (anywhere), and hit F12 again. It should now be on your desktop. To undo it, just select the widget (holding down the click again) and hit F12. Once your widgets are displayed, release the click. Hope this helps!

one problem--the widget will cover up your applications...kinda annoying but it works.
