You can turn this into a keyboard shortcut in finder to save a few precious seconds:

Open System Preferences, and click on Keyboard

In Keyboard Preferences, go to the Keyboard Shortcuts tab

In the left-hand pane, click on Application Shortcuts

Click on the + (Plus) button below the panes

In the pullout menu that appears, select Finder from the Application dropdown menu item.

In the Menu Title field, type "Print" (without the quotes)

Click on the Keyboard Shortcut field, and press Command + P (this is just my preference, you can input any key combination that suits you)

Click the Add button, then close System Preferences.

Now you will be able to highlight any item in Finder, press Command+P and have it print. Handy as anything if you print things often

Sure Thomas, you are right. Once one knows the way, it isn't exiting anymore.

I use this option for a long period myself, but recently (by doing so) I run into a huge bug (with one of the best word processor). I wanted to print a document (as described), but the word processor got into a loop. Only a Force Quit could stop it.

So I reported this bug and guess what! The developer replied to me that he was not aware of this function at all! For me this was the motivation to submit this little trick. I thought: 'Maybe more people are not aware of it.' At the end, this is were this site is all about, isn't it?

Kind Regards, Hans
