I have the Dock magnification turned off mostly, unless I am trying to impress (!)
But you can have it on to order. Just hold down control-shift and drag the mouse over the dock to see it now magnified. And if magnification was on, it is now off. It toggles the behaviour. Cool.

Hey, nice one. I hate having magnification on all the time, but when the dock gets crowded it’s nice to have on demand!

pretty funny how these hints show up here just hours after they appear on macosxhints. you should at least credit your sources.

Ricky, there’s about 30 sites stealing hints from this site after they’ve been posted… what do you do eh? There’s even two in different languages with the exact identical theme this site has. hehe. I must say that we should be crediting any sources, for sure. I’m sure we can make the effort.
Ricky, if your keen to add some tips or tricks of your own, feel free to register, cheers

There’s an old term James Cameron used to use: “Creative Parallelism.” People think of the same things at the same time, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re “ripping each other off.”
Besides, who cares where the tip showed up first? I’m sure James never intended this site to be “beating everyone to the punch.”
It’s mainly a community-driven site–many tips are from regular users, not the site owner. I try to credit sources, but sometimes I don’t remember where I’ve heard a tip, and I still want to share it

Thanks! That was cool. I’ll use it occasionally, for sure.

after messing around with this i found that the magnification on the dock isn’t all that really! because i feel it looks better when the icons are nice and small, its just to show off!!!
