I remarked that in Leopard, iCal widget can now show events of the current day.
Bring Dashboard to front, if you have iCal widget onboard, click on the first square, the current day, and you’ll see the (usual) month view drawer pulled out at right. Now, click again, you’ll see appearing a new drawer. If you have some events in the current day, they will show up there in a list (otherwise, it will be a black square, that’s it). They are linked to iCal app, so if you click one of these events, iCal will start and bring you to this event.
It’s not a trick, I know, just an observation but since it’s a Leopard’ newbie, it looks very handy for me.

Where can I get the iCal widget? I looked on Apple’s Widget lists and I couldn’t find it.

Hi Kati, well the iCal widget comes with Mac OS X. When you open Dashboard, the calendar widget should there. It is a black square with the name of the day in green and the date in large white font. If you don’t see it, click the (+) button in the bottom-left of your screen and you’ll see all your widgets listed alphabetically, find “iCal” in the bar and click it or drag it to add it to the dashboard. You can leave widgets open or click their Close (x) buttons when you’re done. Hope this helps.

Yeah, this is cool and works really well, but does somebody know why in the widget the calendar jumps one day ahead, even though the ICal setting and the comp time & date is right. Just the widget date jumps forward for a day.
Anybody knows how to fix this?

In my dreams, Apple will add the ability to look at events on future dates by clicking the date in the calender…it doesn’t seem all that outrageous a request…

I wouldn’t normally plug my own product like this but it does seem appropriate. I just released a new application called CaliBrate that allows you to batch process iCal events. It also has an event drawer that allows you to view search result details and edit or add events in the drawer. Using a range preset like search for events “coming week” you can approximate the behavior of iCal 2′s drawer on Leopard. But that’s only part of what it does. It also has a Magic Hat to drop text onto to create new events. It’s a first release so missing features will be added later.

@ Wooden Brain Concepts: Hey! That’s pretty cool as well as your other apps. Thanks for the tip.
@ Skov: in my dreams either!
@ Zedman: I didn’t find the solution for your “day ahead” issue with your iCal widget and it tickled my brain for days now. Questions: 1) is your time zone in System Preferences’ Time & Date is set properly? 2) I presume that your AM/PM settings are OK? 3) Did you enable Time to be set automatically time Apple’s server? 4) Is System Preferences’ International / Format is set correctly? 5) Do you have Time zone support ON for ical (in iCal advanced Preferences)?
Also, try to flush away the iCal widget preference: Go to ~/Library/Preferences
find: “widget-com.apple.widget.calendar.plist” and throw it in the trash. Then restart Dashboard by log out and log in again your session or type in Terminal: “killall Dock” (without the quotes) then press Enter or Return key, or use something like quitDOCK Widget http://www.ben-robinson.com/software/quitDock.asp (note that Dock and Dashboard works together). Good luck.

I have the same issue as Zedman, But the strange thing is that it only happens with the widget the iCal dock icon shows the right date. And I downloaded a different widget that does similar things to the iCal widget and it shows the right date, I also downloaded a countdown widget that also shows the wrong date weird huh?
BTW, I do have the right PM / AM and the right time some (sync with apple servers is off).
