I remarked that in Leopard, iCal widget can now show events of the current day.

Bring Dashboard to front, if you have iCal widget onboard, click on the first square, the current day, and you’ll see the (usual) month view drawer pulled out at right. Now, click again, you’ll see appearing a new drawer. If you have some events in the current day, they will show up there in a list (otherwise, it will be a black square, that’s it). They are linked to iCal app, so if you click one of these events, iCal will start and bring you to this event.

It’s not a trick, I know, just an observation but since it’s a Leopard’ newbie, it looks very handy for me.

Not sure if this is obvious or not (or if it was already possible in 10.4 for that matter)…

To manually mark a message with any colour in your inbox or other mailbox, just select it, press shift+command+c to bring up the colour menu and select the colour of your choice!

Very convenient to visually group messages in different categories!

A feature that isn’t there anymore in Leopard: ability to see every mapped network drives and physical drives within Finder.

  • Open Finder
  • Right click on your hard drive and select “Open Enclosing Folder”

You can drag the icon of the opened folder into Finder to make its access permanent.

Here’s a handy trick submitted by Hamish:

When using a background in photobooth or iChat, always stand against a blank wall, not one with posters on, or thats colour is too close to your skins own so you get a more accurate dynamic backdrop and less “fuzz”.

Here’s a trick that has been passed on from previous versions of OS X although extended for other Leopard features. If you press shift when you activate a stack or spaces (unfortunatly not working with mouse in hot corners), your stack/grid, space or exposé will motion neatly slow.Maybe not that useful, but can be used to show them wind blowers how some stuff work!!

Not really Leopard specific, I’ve been using this for some time now. It’s cool so it’s worth a mention.

My wife and I like to share our calendars, we don’t have .mac accounts, but we do have a web server to host sites on. phpicalendar is a nifty package that lets you sync your iCal with other users. It also makes your calendar available on the web for web viewing. Pretty cool.

http://www.phpicalendar.com/ check out the doco and demo!

It’s very useful when switching fast between windows in spaces…

Well, I found it’s very easy to do this with mouse scroll wheel. Open spaces, then try operating the scroll wheel on your mouse for the switching
